Barbara Blanchard graduated from the New England School of Acupuncture in 1993. She started practicing Acupressure Shiatsu in 1978 and was the former founding director of the Acupressure Therapy Institute (ATI) in Quincy, MA. Double board certified in Acupuncture and Asian Bodywork Therapy (ABT) as well as a Certified Instructor (CI) of ABT.

A licensed acupuncturist in Massachusetts, her studies with Dr. Yoshio Manaka, Steve Birch, Kiiko Matsumoto, Shizuko Yamamoto, Jeffrey Yuen, Richard Tan and others influenced her style in integrating classical and modern Japanese meridian theory with Asian Bodywork Therapy and Acupuncture.

With more than twenty five years of practice, Barbara brought a wealth of experience and a sensitivity to her practice. Her clients and students benefited from her commitment to healing and education.

With an appreciation for research and science Barbara worked at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in biochemical mechanisms associated with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Barbara maintained a private practice in Central Square, Cambridge, MA and taught regularly at EMTEC. She will be missed, but her legacy lives through her clients, students and teachings.
