Tuina and Medical Qigong for Health Professionals Seminar with Bill Helm

Join us Memorial Day weekend, May 24-27, 2024 to learn Tuina and Medical Qigong techniques and protocols from Bill Helm, Tuina and Qi Gong Teacher, AOBTA® Certified Instructor, and longtime former Chair of the Massage and Bodywork Program at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine.

The weekend will begin on Friday with a special 8-hour class devoted entirely to the oscillating hand techniques used in Tuina bodywork to restore correct anatomical musculoskeletal relationships and neuromuscular patterns, and to increase the circulation of blood and qi.

For those who are familiar with the techniques of rolling, grasping, kneading, pressing, and finger springing, this will be a valuable opportunity for review under Bill’s direct instruction. For those unfamiliar with these techniques, this class is not only a rare opportunity to learn them from an experienced teacher, but also required to get the full benefit of the rest of the workshop.

Friday night we will be hosting an Open House for those interested in enrolling in the professional certification programs.

Saturday and Sunday we will learn Tuina for Oncology.

Sunday night we are hosting an Alumni potluck dinner for ATI and EMTEC graduates, students, and future students, where we will also honor past and present teachers, we invite you to send in your list of teachers you would like to be recognized and send in photos to include in the slide show. Please include what and why you feel they deserve recognition.

Monday we will learn Qigong for Healthcare Professionals. This is open to the public and professionals interested in learning Qigong practices to enhance the health and vitality of themselves and others.

With each session, after an assessment protocol has been presented and the structural disorders identified, Bill will demonstrate specific Tuina sequences, including both oscillating techniques and specific applicable acupoints, to relieve pain and promote healing. All participants will then have time to practice these sequences under Bill's supervision, with plenty of opportunity to ask questions and receive direct personal instruction.

Bill’s last workshop was very successful. Most of the participants expressed an interest in coming back, so be sure to sign up early. Don’t miss this opportunity to study with someone who is not only a great Tuina practitioner, but also a wonderful teacher.

Tuina Hand Techniques
9:00 - 6:00 p.m.

Day One Course description: In this hands on practical class students will be taught specific Tuina oscillating hand techniques, as well as principals of effective expression of kinesthetic force. Patterns and underlying factors of Bi Syndrome and Deficient Wei Qi will also be identified, and students will have the opportunity to practice, under supervision, a whole body Tuina treatment designed to expel pathogenic factors from the channels, muscles, tendons, and joints, relieve qi and blood stagnation, and tonify underlying deficiencies.

Acupuncturists and Asian Bodywork Therapists (Acupressure, Shiatsu, Tuina) alike will find these rhythmic, penetrating techniques fun to perform and receive, as well as powerful additions to your clinical methods of summoning and moving qi.

For Massage and other Manual Therapists looking to expand their repertoire to include Asian Bodywork Therapy treatment styles and principles, this is a perfect introductory class. Once you have had a chance to get comfortable with these techniques, Bill will demonstrate and supervise practice of a whole body treatment to put those skills to use.
