Extraordinary Vessel Sunday Series 2020
with Barbara Blanchard, M.Ac. Lic.Ac., Dipl. Ac. (NCCAOM)® and Dipl. ABT (NCCAOM)® 

For Acupuncturists and Asian Bodywork Therapists who want to review the Extraordinary Vessels (EV) with an understanding of practical application in clinical conditions. This series looks at each EV pathways, characteristics and energetic implications. A hands-on Acupressure treatment for a specific issue is part of each workshop. It will include basic Acupressure techniques and specific Acupoint combinations that can be used in clinic.

1. Harmonizing Shen with the Chong Mai

One of the Extraordinary Vessels, the Chong Mai or the Penetrating Vessel has an important influence on affecting the emotions. Its characteristics have the ability to harmonize the emotions when they are imbalanced. Extraordinary Vessels are the deepest pathways that circulate Yuan Source Qi and connect to the Dan Tien “elixir field”. We will discuss how emotions can cause pathology. Learn how to harmonize the emotions using an Acupressure treatment to connect to and balance the Chong Mai.

2. Releasing Trauma with the Yang Qiao Du Mai

The Extraordinary Vessel Du Mai has its source in the Ming Men or Gate of Vitality. It controls Yang Qi and its fire ignites movement and activity. Injury to the back, spine or head can create deep trauma that prevents an ability of expression and interaction with the world. Releasing physical and emotional trauma frees the mobility of outward expression.

3. Expanding Heaven’s Breath with the Yin Qiao Ren Mai

The Extraordinary Vessel Ren Mai has a broad influence on many conditions related to the Yuan source Qi. Of particular interest in this workshop will be the effectiveness of Ren Mai in treating Heart and Lung conditions related to asthma and respiratory conditions. Learn Acupressure Therapy for opening the chest, easing breath and calming shen. In freeing ones constrictions, the Ren Mai allows expanding one’s essence of deep spirit reaching outward.

4. Increasing Flexibility of Life with the Yang Wei Dai Mai

The Extraordinary Vessel Dai Mai also called the Belt Vessel is the only horizontal channel in the body that binds the other vessels. It has the ability to store excesses both physical and emotional that can often lead to stagnation inhibiting embracing life in the now. Learn the key to unlock the door to promote growth, creativity and flexibility of movement. Practice Acupressure Therapy for releasing stagnation both physical and psychoemotional held by the Dai Mai.

Barbara Blanchard, M.Ac. Lic.Ac., Dipl. Ac. (NCCAOM)® and Dipl. ABT (NCCAOM)® Founding Director of the former Acupressure Therapy Institute, Barbara Blanchard has more than 35 years experience in teaching and developing curriculum. She specializes in Acupressure Shiatsu, Acupoint energetics, traditional Chinese medical theory (TCM), magnet therapy, moxibustion and other adjunct therapies.

Barbara is a dynamic teacher interested in practical application of theory or best clinical results. With a lifelong passion for learning and education, in addition to her private practice in Cambridge, MA. Barbara is one of the three founding teachers and primary mentors for Eastern Medicinal Therapies Education Center (EMTEC).
